I firmly believe that abortion is evil and that federal funding for abortions is evil and unjust. The provisions on abortion funding in the current unamended Senate health care bill are an unacceptable injustice. It would force all Americans to pay for abortions. Since when is pregnancy a health problem to be covered by "health plans"? Also, the funding appropriated for community health centers would not be subject to the restrictions of the Hyde Amendment. I urge you to uphold the essential provisions against abortion funding, to include full conscience protection for individuals and institutions and to assure that life-affirming health care is accessible and affordable for all.
